Neem-Aloe DIY Soap
We have all been observing the upsurge of phrases like
organic, all natural, toxin free and so on, in “commercial” beauty and skincare
products for the past few years, particularly, after some very high profile
lawsuits like Johnson & Johnson, Wen, Unilever cases where the big giants
ended up paying multi million dollar settlements to people. So, the companies
like Kiss My Face and EOS turned around and churned out brands under aggressive
marketing campaigns, practically shouting “Your regular beauty routines contain
very dangerous chemicals or use these organic products instead” and again ended
up with lawsuits claiming false “organic” labeling.
Question here is, in this goose chase of “all natural”
personal care industry who is to ensure consumers of the legitimacy and the
safety required? Well, I’m waiting too for the answer because the sheer size
and the power of beauty industry operating in collaboration with celebrity
glamour world is a challenge invincible for anyone seeking the truth about
products, manufacturers and endorsers alike.
While we wait, let us experiment with this “organic”
concept ourselves.
Making your own “all natural” soap at home is quite easy,
economical, and satisfying to have a natural alternative
to chemical bars. The liberty to add and subtract ingredients per requirement,
putting theories associated with herbs and oils to test and actually getting
beneficial results is a joy that can only be topped by guilt-free eating! (A
joke … not).
Today we’re talking about Neem and Aleovera homemade
Anti-Acne soap. First of all, let’s get ourselves a little familiar with both
plants so you will know why I decided on them to make my own anti-acne soap.
NEEM
Neem or (Indian lilac) shrub is native to Indian

such as leprosy, intestinal worms, skin ulcers, diabetes, fever, blood

Now,
How to make your own anti-acne soap at home
METHOD
There are four basic methods of soap making, each with
its own pros and cons. Trying each will help you decide which method works best
for you.
Melt and pour (I worked with pour and melt premade soap
base, as it is easy and safe for beginners)
Hot process
Cold process
Rebatching
What You Will Need
Medium size bowl full of Neem leaves
2 tablespoon raw aloe vera gel
2 bars of base soap (We will talk about making your own
base soap in another post)
With melt and pour method you melt your soap base using
double-boiler or oven until it is totally in liquid form and add neem leaves and
aloe vera mixture obtained by blending both plants finely in blender, then add few
drops of jasmine oil essence (you can use the one you like) and pour into previously
greased (by Vaseline) molds. Now you wait for roughly 5 hours or until your
soap is completely hardened before start using it.
I feel my skin to be tighter, softer and more aglow ever
since I have been using my homemade Neem-Aloe (combination is especially good
in summer) anti acne soap. No break out to report, no irritation, no flakiness.
Nothing whatsoever that could be counted as side effect unless you have very
dry skin to begin with, then use moisturizer because oil-control effect can be discouraging
for you.
Results have me convinced to try and improvise with
methods and ingredients more, and keep on making my own homemade soaps rather
than buying soaps laced with harsh chemicals.
If you have ever tried soap making at home, how did it go
for you? Tell me in the comment section which soap you made and which method
you applied.
